LENT: A SEASON
OF SINCERE REFLECTION

Toward the end of February, our Lenten
journey will begin. Lent is a season of sincere
reflection on God’s amazing grace
revealed in Jesus Christ. Purple, the liturgical
color of Lent, reminds us that we are in
God’s hands in the best of times and the
worst of times.

In this Presidential election year, let us reflect on the needs of our country and our Christian responsibility. I invite you to participate in a Lenten study using the outstanding PBS Series “God in America.” We’ll meet from 9 to 10 a.m. on the following
Sunday mornings.

Feb. 26 (Lent 1) A New Adam
Religion in the colonial period, conflict and individualism

Mar. 4 (Lent 2) A New Eden
Religious freedom, Jefferson, Constitution & 1st amendment

Mar. 11 (Lent 3) A New Nation
Civil War, Lincoln, “Divine Will”

Mar. 18 (Lent 4) A New Light

Mar. 25 (Lent 5) A Soul of a Nation

May God continue to inspire us to shine on-the-hill!

Blessings and love,
Pastor Phil
